Telephony is a very important part of any disaster management plan. During a disaster, communication is the differentiator that will influence how speedily people are able to regroup, recover and plan to deal with the disaster.

In many disaster readiness guides, communication is listed as the third most important item after water and food.

People need to have one number (for example reception) they can call during a disaster and this one number needs to be able to efficiently route and connect calls. Not everybody in the company has all numbers saved on their mobile phones, so to speak to colleagues, they would phone reception and the person or people manning the reception extension will be able to connect the call to the other employee’s mobile or home number, depending on the impact of the disaster.

When customers call in, all calls can be routed to reception and distributed from reception to the relevant employee, whether to a soft phone, hard phone, mobile phone, land line at home or even technologies like Skype.

All this functionality can only be achieved with a tool that is capable of adapting to a PBX Disaster Recovery scenario. This functionality is inherent to 3CX.
